General FAQs

What is Summer Quest?

Summer Quest helps connect students to quality pre-college summer programs. Summer Quest participants will attend one of many possible program options. The program a student attends is based on student interest, Summer Quest recommendations, financial need and student completion of program and financial aid applications.

How much will it cost my family?

Costs vary from program to program. With a combination of financial aid from CPS and the program itself, students who receive free or reduced lunch will usually pay about $30 a week in tuition. Additional fees are sometimes required, and families are responsible for miscellaneous spending money. See the Financial Aid & Fees section of the website for more information.

What if I don't receive free or reduced lunch?

Scholarships will be awarded based on need and availability.

What kinds of programs can I attend?

See the list of programs here. There are three types of summer programs: academic programs, art and music programs, and outdoor leadership programs.

Why are multiple applications necessary?

The first application is to Summer Quest, where students are evaluated as appropriate CPS scholarship recipients. The other applications are for the external summer institutions. Those programs make their own admissions and financial aid evaluations.
