Step Two: Apply to External Program

In the second step of the application process, accepted students will research and apply to the external summer programs beginning in February. Here is how the process breaks down:

1. Explore the program links that are available on the website, and prepare a list of programs that interest you. Be aware that each program has its own admission qualifications, application, and deadline.

2. Attend one of the program matching sessions, which will take place in February and March. At these sessions, you can discuss programs with Summer Quest staff members, who will help you find the programs that best fit your interests and abilities. By the end of the session, you should have two top choices.

3. Once your choices have been approved by the Summer Quest staff, you may begin working on the applications for those programs.  The completed applications are due in the Summer Quest office three weeks after your choices have been approved.

a. Make a copy of each application for your own records. Send the originals to the Summer Quest office. Do NOT pay any application fees.

b. If the application was submitted online, you must print two copies of it - one for your own records, and one to send to Summer Quest. Do not submit an online application if that application requires you to provide credit card information.

c. Be sure to complete all financial aid/scholarship documents. In addition to the programs' own financial aid forms, all students must submit a copy of their parents' 1040 tax forms and a letter requesting financial aid.

d. Teachers should send any letters of recommendation to the Summer Quest office.

e. If a program requires an essay, ask your English teacher to proofread it.

f. Some programs may require a portfolio or audition tape. Be sure to follow all instructions carefully.

Upon acceptance to a program, students must send copies of the application letters and financial aid packages to the Summer Quest office to qualify for additional financial aid. Students will only attend one of the programs they have applied for, even if they were accepted to both.
